Noticed that people who 'like' the posts on this blog go for the most dramatic stories so I've got one more of those for you: GIRL MODEL, directed by David Redmon and Ashley Sabin.
The doc follows two protagonists involved in the modeling industry: Ashley, a deeply ambivalent model scout who scours the Siberian countryside looking for fresh faces to send to the Japanese market, and one of her discoveries, Nadya, a thirteen year-old plucked from the Siberian countryside and dropped into the center of Tokyo with promises of a profitable career.
Quite a sobering experience from two very interesting points of view ...
The film was streaming free on PBS for a while and is on my favorite Netflix too!
