One month prior to the presidential election, ANIMADOCS released THE TRUMP & JESUS SHOW – a short animated film that draws a direct contrast between the personalities of Donald Trump and Jesus Christ. The film is co-directed and produced by Maria Stanisheva and Todd Leatherman. Todd is a documentary director and cinematographer who has shot multiple projects for HBO and Netflix, with his previous work appearing at Sundance, Hot Docs and various other film festivals. Maria is an animation and documentary filmmaker, as well as the founder of ANIMADOCS. The remaining production team is rounded out by a talented group of Emmy and Grammy-nominated artists including Art Director and Illustrator Rosi Raleva, Animation Director Andrew Embury and Music Composer and Sound Designer Tim Bright.

The motivation for this project stemmed from an attempt to help prevent Mr. Trump from becoming President of the United States. It is not a politically motivated piece, but rather a visual commentary on how his words, actions and temperament have proven him unfit to lead our country, irrespective of which political party he claims to represent. By emphasizing the contrast of Mr. Trump’s divisive rhetoric with the humble image of Jesus, we believe that many Christians (nearly 80% of all Evangelical Christians have stated their support for Mr. Trump) will be invited to consider the moral ramifications of their vote.
